INFINITI Q50: A Compact Sedan with Plenty of Style
The INFINITI Q50 may be the smallest sedan in INFINITI's lineup, but it has a spacious interior and all the features you want from a luxury vehicle. The Q50 is ideal for anyone who doesn't need an excessive amount of rear legroom and can handle an average-sized trunk or those how simply want a compact vehicle that is maneuverable and efficient. It has entry-level pricing that puts luxury vehicles within reach of the average person with styling that sets you apart from the crowd.
Everywhere you look on the Q50, you will see innovation, from the Direct Adaptive Steering system to advanced safety like Predictive Forward Collision Warning. Riding in or driving the INFINITI Q50 is also an amazing experience and in fact, the model won the first ever Wards 10 Best User Experiences Award for delivering an advanced and intuitive vehicle system and interface.
Changes Made to the 2017 INFINITI Q50
Compare the 2017 INFINITI Q50 to previous model years and you will notice a number of updates to keep this sedan modern and continuing to offer a range of features. The number of updates is actually pretty impressive, considering that the 2016 Q50 had its own long list of changes, including the new Red Sport 400 trim, with its 400-horsepower V6 engine, along with two additional new engines. No updates for the 2017 Q50 are as dramatic, but they are still worth knowing about. You will notice that there are two additional exterior colors for drivers to choose from, enhancing the range of customization options. Drivers are more likely to appreciate the new Bose audio system, however, which includes 13 speakers. It was designed to take the cabin and turn it into your audio haven when you are behind the wheel.
For those who want to upgrade the cabin of the 2017 INFINITI Q50, you can also now opt for a Designer Pack treatment. Doing so lets you select a color scheme of Java Brown or Graphite. This scheme will feature on the quilted leather seats and complement open-pore wood veneers, the all-black headliner, and dark chrome trim. The Red Sport 400 model now has red brake calipers as well. Finally, there is a new 2.0t Sport model that wasn't previously available on the Q50.
A Glimpse of the Q50 History
You don't have to look too far into the past to examine the INFINITI Q50's history, as the model made its official debut during the North American International Auto Show in 2013. It arrived later that year in the form of a 2014 model year. INFINITI created the Q50 to replace the G-line as part of its brand restructuring. This first model ran on a 3.7-liter V6 engine with 328 horsepower and a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Q50 Hybrid made its debut during the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show and made history as the first entry-level hybrid from INFINITI. This hybrid paired the V6 engine with an electric motor featuring 50 kilowatts. You could choose from all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
When the first Q50 arrived, it had a double arch grille, LED headlights, and eye-catching exterior styling. It also showed off the latest technology from the automaker, including Active Lane Control, Direct Active Steering, and the INFINITI InTouch infotainment system. Although a Q50 Eau Rogue was teased in 2014 with 560 horsepower thanks to a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6, the automaker decided it wouldn't enter production during late 2015.
For the 2016 model year, the INFINITI Q50 saw a reasonable number of updates, including a second-generation version of Direct Adaptive Steering and the new Dynamic Digital Suspension. Other updates included RACK Electronic Power Steering on the 3.0t models, a Drive Mode Selector, revised suspension, and the Red Sport 400 model.
