Crossover SUVs are popular because they are comfortable, fuel-efficient, and fun to drive. They may not be designed for extreme off-roading and towing, but they are perfect for city driving. If you’re looking for a luxury crossover SUV, the 2024 INFINITI QX60 and the 2024 Land Rover Discovery are excellent options. We compare the QX60 vs. Discovery based on key categories to see which is better.
Every INFINITI QX60 has three rows of seats and can accommodate up to seven people. The top Autograph model has second-row captain’s chairs that reduce capacity to six. The cabin is plush, with high-quality materials and extra soundproofing for a quiet ride. Both front seats are eight-way power-adjustable and heated. Ventilated front seats, massage feature, and heated rear seats are optional upgrades. It has standard dual-zone automatic climate control. Meanwhile, higher trims offer a three-zone system with an air purifier.
On the other hand, the 2024 Land Rover Discovery’s interior materials are posh, but the design feels predictably luxurious. The cabin has plenty of luxury features, though real comfort only comes at higher and more costly trims. The power-adjustable heated leather seats have an optional massage. They give good support but are best known for their softness.
The second row allows basic recline adjustments. However, cargo space is limited, curbing the vehicle’s adventurous potential. With both rear rows of seats folded flat, the Disco trim’s cabin can hold 29 carry-on suitcases. However, when both third-row seats are used, it can only fit two carry-ons behind the rear row.

A 295-horsepower V-6 engine powers the 2024 INFINITI QX60. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. Its towing capacity has improved to 6,000 pounds, up 1,000 pounds from last year. During a test drive, the QX60 shifted smoothly. It has a nine-speed automatic transmission and controlled body motions in corners. At a test track, it hit 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. This vehicle is also notably quieter than other models.
All 2024 Land Rover Discovery models come with full-time all-wheel drive. Buyers can choose between a 296-horsepower turbo 2.0-liter and a 355-horsepower turbo 3.0-liter with a 48-volt hybrid. Despite its better numbers, the six-cylinder is only modestly agile in town. It has enough power for highway passes. The six-cylinder Discovery hit 60 mph at a test track in 6.3 seconds.
The Discovery offers off-road capability but comes at the cost of on-road precision. It handles with noticeable clumsiness, feeling bulky and unstable around quick turns. The ride quality is generally acceptable, effectively absorbing severe bumps, but the steering is slow.
The 2024 INFINITI QX60 gets top marks across every review category for safety. The NHTSA gave it a full five-star overall rating. The IIHS has not yet rated this year’s model. But we can rely on last year’s ratings, which were excellent across the board, earning it a Top Safety Pick+ award.
The Pure base model has a full set of standard driver aids typical for its class. They include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and rear parking sensors with auto braking. It also has automatic high-beam LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, hill-start assist, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Meanwhile, the Luxe model adds front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, auto-dimming side mirrors, blind-spot intervention, lane-keeping assist, a garage door opener, and traffic sign recognition. For more advanced features, the Luxe and Sensory trims offer a Vision package with a 10.8-inch head-up display, a camera-based digital rearview mirror, and adaptive self-leveling LED headlights. The latter is standard on the Autograph.
The 2024 Land Rover Discovery has few standard driver-assistance functions. More advanced tech requires buying optional packages. Land Rover’s 360-degree exterior camera system is more of a novelty than functional off-road safety equipment since it just displays what’s under the hood. The most important safety features of the Discovery include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.
From the comparison above, it’s clear that the 2024 INFINITI QX60 has several advantages over the 2024 Land Rover Discovery. Do you want to learn more about the QX60?
